Digital SAT Test Day Checklist: The Week, Night and Morning Before
Test day points are the cheapest points available: nothing you do here requires new knowledge, and every item below has cost real students real marks.
One week before
- Install and update the Bluebook app on the device you will actually use, and complete exam setup so your admission ticket is ready.
- Run a full-length practice test on that same device, at roughly the same time of day as your real test.
- Confirm your test centre address and how long the journey takes at that hour.
- Start shifting your sleep so waking early is normal, not a shock.
The night before
- Charge your device to 100% and pack the charger anyway.
- Pack: admission ticket, photo ID, approved calculator, pencils, a snack and water.
- Do no new practice. A short review of your error log is the maximum.
- Set two alarms and aim for a normal bedtime — not an unusually early one.
Bring a backup calculator or spare batteries even though Desmos is built in. Redundancy costs nothing and removes an entire category of panic.
The morning of
Eat a normal breakfast with protein, arrive 30 minutes early, and do three to five easy warm-up questions in the car or waiting area. The goal of warm-up is to start the test already thinking, not to learn anything.
During the test
- Answer every question — there is no wrong-answer penalty.
- Use the flag tool and revisit flagged questions only after finishing the module.
- Watch the countdown at the module level, not the question level.
- During the break, stand up, drink water and eat something. Do not discuss questions with anyone.
- If module 2 feels hard, that usually means module 1 went well. Keep going.
After
Scores typically arrive within about two weeks in your College Board account. Decide in advance whether you are re-testing, so the score arriving does not become an emotional decision.
Rehearse the whole thing first. Poomio's full-length adaptive mocks match the real module timing, break and question mix.
